The memory the train carries
Today, on Railway Workers’ Day, we remember those who would have been greeting passengers with a smile, confidently driving trains, laying tracks and electrifying new sections.
We cannot embrace them today, but we carry the brightest memory of them – 1220 railway workers who gave their lives during the full-scale invasion.
We continue the tradition – and in their honor, we launch the “Train of Iron Memory”.
It will not carry passengers, but it will carry the memory of everyone who could have been dispatching it today – those who died defending Ukraine, saving passengers and restoring rail connections.
We bow our heads and see it off to the sound of honor horns from locomotives across Ukraine.
