Pain That Cannot Be Endured Alone
Provided 100 000 грн
April 24, 2025, became a black day for Kyiv and for our railway family. On that day, a Russian missile took the lives of two children of our colleague – neurologist Yaroslav Kozlov.
Yaroslav works as a neurologist in the Consultative and Diagnostic Department of the CDC of Kyiv Clinical Hospital on Railway Transport No. 1, "Healthcare Center" Branch of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia". He is a father of four children, but he could not even imagine that he would have to bury the two eldest.
On the night of the tragedy, Yaroslav, his wife, and their two younger children were out of town. His older children, 21-year-old Nikita and 19-year-old Sofiia, remained at home in the Sviatoshynskyi district of the capital. A direct hit by a ballistic missile destroyed their home completely and cut short the lives of Nikita and Sofiia.
Nikita was a student at the National Transport University. In January, Sofiia had just graduated with honors from the college of the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design; she dreamed of a future in artistic photography. Their lives and dreams were cut short by the Russian strike.
Words cannot convey the pain of parents who lost two children and their home in an instant. This is grief that cannot be endured alone. The "Iron Family" program was created precisely to support our colleagues in their hardest moments.
