Dmytro GAIDAI

Dmytro was born on November 8, 1993, in the city of Bakhmach, Chernihiv region—a renowned railway hub where the love for steel highways is nurtured from a young age. In 2012, after graduating from the Kyiv Electromechanical College of Railway Transport, he immediately joined the large railway family as an assistant locomotive driver at the Konotop locomotive depot.

Dmytro Olegovych dedicated 12 years of his life to his professional calling. Thanks to his perseverance, hard work, and deep technical knowledge, he progressed from assistant locomotive driver to locomotive driver of the electric locomotive at the "Darnytsia Locomotive Depot" of the "Locomotive Company" branch of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia," taking his place at the controls of the locomotive in January 2024. Colleagues remember him as a responsible, diligent, and reliable specialist, someone they could always count on during the most challenging journeys.

On September 1, 2026, at 02:21, Dmytro's life was tragically cut short. As a result of a hostile missile strike by a ballistic missile on the territory of the Darnytsia locomotive depot, the explosion occurred almost immediately after the air raid alert was announced. Dmytro Olegovych perished while heading to the shelter, remaining vigilant for railway operations until the end.

In his civilian life, Dmytro was a loving and caring son, the sole support for his mother.
