Oleksandr DRAHUN

Oleksandr Yuriyovych was born on December 24, 1988, in the city of Nizhyn, Chernihiv region. From his youth, he dedicated his life to the railway industry. In 2007, after graduating from the Chernihiv Professional Railway Transport College, he became part of the "iron family" as an assistant locomotive driver.

For over two decades—21 years—Oleksandr Yuriyovych devoted himself to locomotive operations. Due to his high sense of responsibility, skill, and deep knowledge of the field, in November 2018, he took his place at the controls of the locomotive, becoming a locomotive driver at the "Lokomotivne Depot Darnytsia" production unit of the "Lokomotivna Kompaniya" branch of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia."

There are people whose presence becomes such a natural part of our daily lives that it is hard to imagine a day without them. Oleksandr Yuriyovych was one of those people—a man who was sincerely respected, valued, and loved. Colleagues remember him as an exceptionally diligent, friendly, sincere, and reliable specialist. He was always ready to lend a hand, offer advice, and share responsibility during the most challenging journeys. His hard work, dedication to his profession, and human warmth will forever remain in the memory of all who had the honor of working alongside him.

On September 1, 2026, at 02:21, the life of the railway worker was tragically cut short. As a result of a missile strike and the impact of an enemy ballistic missile on the territory of the Darnytsia locomotive depot, the explosion occurred almost immediately after the air raid alert was announced. Oleksandr Yuriyovych died while heading to the shelter, remaining at his post until the last moment.

Oleksandr Yuriyovych is survived by his parents, for whom this loss has become an unspeakable, incurable pain.

The team of the "Lokomotivne Depot Darnytsia" production unit of the "Lokomotivna Kompaniya" branch of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" expresses its deepest and most sincere condolences to the parents and all relatives and friends of Oleksandr Yuriyovych.

We share this irreparable grief and bow our heads in deep sorrow. We will not forget and will not forgive the enemy for a single destroyed life.
