Rodion Glukhenkyi
The Kyiv community, as well as the entire team of Ukrzaliznytsia, has suffered a heavy, painful loss. During a hostile rocket attack directly on the premises of the enterprise, the life of a young but exceptionally dedicated railway worker—assistant locomotive driver Rodion Glukhensky—was tragically cut short. The young man was only 23 years old...
Rodion Mykhailovych was born on March 21, 2003, in the glorious city of Nizhyn, Chernihiv region. After obtaining his vocational education at the Chernihiv Vocational Railway Transport College, he joined the large railway family in 2021, becoming an assistant locomotive driver at the "Locomotive Depot Darnytsia" production unit of the "Locomotive Company" branch of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia."
Despite his young age, Rodion dedicated 7 years of his life to the railway industry (including his years of professional training and devoted work in the locomotive crew). Colleagues and fellow workers knew him as an exceptionally enthusiastic, disciplined, and responsible employee who sincerely loved his profession. His keen sense of humor, cheerfulness, and sincerity always lifted the spirits of the team, even during the toughest shifts.
On September 1, 2026, at 02:21, Rodion's life was tragically cut short. As a result of a treacherous ballistic missile strike on the territory of the Darnytsia locomotive depot, the explosion occurred almost immediately after the air raid alert was announced. The workers had no time to reach a safe place—Rodion Mykhailovych perished while heading to the shelter, remaining at his post until the last moment.
In civilian life, Rodion was a loving son and a young father. He is survived by his parents and a small son, for whom his father will forever remain an example of courage and honor.
The team of the "Locomotive Depot Darnytsia" production unit of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" expresses its deepest and most sincere condolences to Rodion Glukhensky's parents, his little son, and all his relatives, friends, and loved ones.
We share this irreparable grief and bow our heads in mourning. The bright memory of our young colleague, his sincere smile, and dedication to the railway will forever live in our hearts.
Eternal memory!
