On September 12, 2026, the railway family of Konotop and the South-Western Railway suffered a painful and irreparable loss. In the Baturyn community of the Nizhyn district in the Chernihiv region, the life of Viktor Mykhailovych, a 6th-grade wagon inspector, was tragically cut short due to severe injuries sustained during an enemy drone strike.

Viktor Mykhailovych was born on August 14, 1974, in the city of Pervomaisk, Mykolaiv region. In 1995, he dedicated his life to the steel tracks, starting his career as a 2nd-grade mechanic for rolling stock repair at the wagon maintenance point of the Konotop station. His genuine love for the railway profession and desire to improve his skills allowed him to master the profession of wagon inspector just a year later.

Over 31 years of dedicated service, Viktor Mykhailovych rose to the highest, 6th professional grade. He was a specialist whose vigilance and experience were crucial for the safety of thousands of passengers and the integrity of cargo every day. In the wagon maintenance team, he was known as an exceptionally conscientious, caring, and kind person. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, share his experience with younger colleagues, and offer advice in difficult situations.

In his personal life, Viktor Mykhailovych was a caring son, a loving husband, a father, and a grandfather, for whom family was the highest value.

His mother, wife Victoria, daughter, and grandchildren are left in endless sorrow.

The team of the Konotop region of the station operation service of the regional branch "South-Western Railway" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" shares this unspeakable grief and expresses deep condolences to Viktor Mykhailovych's mother, wife, daughter, and entire family.
