“I have someone to stand on my feet for”: the story of cashier Olga Zolotova
For 29 years, Olga, a cashier at the Chernihiv railcar depot, has worked on the railway - thousands of trips, smiles for passengers, and recently, even working to the sounds of explosions.
On October 4, 2025, a regular train flight No. 967 Tereshchensk - Novgorod-Siverskyi was under fire. An enemy drone strike on the Shostka station caught Olga at work. She suffered serious injuries: fractures of both legs, damage to the hip joint, burns and contusion.
We thank everyone who did not pass by, because thanks to your concern and the joint efforts of “Zaliznaya Rodina”, the trade union and the company, Olga has already taken the first steps towards recovery: she successfully underwent her first complex operation in the capital.
Together we collected and paid out over 114,000 UAH (through the Iron Family Fund, injury payments, and the medical commission) to ensure treatment.
Now Olga is home, in her native Chernihiv. Her closest relatives are her daughter Svitlana and grandchildren, who dream of seeing her grandmother smiling and cheerful again.
Another important stage is ahead, since rehabilitation of such complexity lasts about a year.
And a recent MRI showed that Olga needs another operation to fully restore the functions of her leg - knee replacement.
And we continue to be there and support her - the company and the trade union organization are already preparing a package of documents to finance the next stage of treatment at the Kyiv Clinical Hospital on railway transport No. 1.
“I am ready to work and I know for sure that I will get back on my feet. I have someone to do it for,” says Ms. Olga.
We thank every railway worker who joined the collection. Your help is not just money for recovery, it is Olga's belief that she is not alone. Together we can help our iron workers who need support.
