Mykola NAKITNYAK
Mykola Nakityak was born in the city of Zhmerynka in the Vinnytsia region. He worked as a 5th-grade locksmith for rolling stock repair at the wagon section of the Zhmerynka station, part of the "Passenger Company." He dedicated 16 years of his life to the railway.
Mykola's military journey began in 2014 when he was mobilized to the ATO zone, where he held back the occupiers in Donbas for over a year. There, he received a medal for the defense of Savur-Mohyla. He was later demobilized. With valuable military experience, on March 10, 2022, he was one of the first to receive a combat summons and was called up to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. For over 2 years, he defended the settlements of Kharkiv region as part of the 3rd Separate Tank Brigade. In the last year, he served as a paramedic. Due to his love for technology, he was given the call sign "Babai."
36-year-old soldier Mykola Nakityak died on October 5, 2024, as a result of an enemy airstrike in the area of the village of Pershotravneve in Kharkiv region. He passed away just a few days before his 37th birthday.
His loved ones remember Mykola as a compassionate, kind, and cheerful person who was respected and held in high regard by his colleagues. He constantly shared his experience with younger workers. He was responsible, goal-oriented, hardworking, proactive, and fair. Mykola was also a true patriot of his country and had an active civic stance. His wife Olena shared that he was the best dad in the world, doing everything to make their daughter feel like a real princess. His twin brother Viktor mentioned that Mykola tried to shield everyone from the harsh realities of the front.

Mykola was a pillar for his wife and a hero for his daughter. He is survived by his wife Olena, their 14-year-old daughter Daryna, and his twin brother Viktor. We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones.
