Andriy PLESKO
Andriy Ivanovych Pleshko dedicated his life to two of the noblest causes—serving people on the railway and defending his homeland. Born in the village of Kremidivka in Odesa region, he found his calling at the Odessa-Zastava 1 motor car depot, where he worked as a passenger train conductor for a quarter of a century.
Colleagues remember Andriy as a true railwayman, a qualified professional, and the soul of the team. He was a strong-willed, calm, and balanced person who never feared difficulties and was always ready to lend a helping hand. His deep respect for people and diligent work were repeatedly recognized by the management, including a commendation from the State Administration of Railway Transport of Ukraine.
Outside of work, Andriy was a person with a sensitive soul—he enjoyed reading books, had a genuine love for nature and animals, and found harmony in these pursuits.
In November 2024, Andriy Ivanovych exchanged his civilian uniform for military attire, becoming a soldier in the grenade launcher unit of a special forces squad. On February 20, 2025, while carrying out a combat mission near the settlement of Ulakly in Donetsk region, he fought his last battle.
For a long time, Andriy was considered missing in action. Despite the hardships and uncertainty, his family fought and searched for him until the end. In June 2026, his status was officially changed—he was declared a Hero, having fallen while holding back enemy aggression. On July 9, 2026, Andriy Pleshko was laid to rest with honors on his native land.
“He was a reliable comrade and a brave warrior who did not bow his head before adversity and gave his life for the future of Ukraine.”
Andriy was a loving husband and an incredibly caring father. He is survived by his wife Kateryna Vasylivna (who works alongside colleagues at the same enterprise), their adult daughter Olena, and teenage son Oleksandr.
The team at the Odessa-Zastava 1 motor car depot, a branch of the “Suburban Passenger Company,” and the entire railway family express their deepest condolences to Andriy Ivanovych's family. We bow our heads in honor of his heroism, the resilience of his family, and share in this unspeakable pain.
The bright memory of a wonderful father, a reliable colleague, and a courageous Hero will live on in our hearts forever.
Eternal memory and honor to the Hero!
