Anton VARANYTSIA
The Zhmerinka railway community and all of Ukraine have lost a talented specialist, an esteemed commander, a loving son, husband, and father who gave his life in the fight for the freedom of his homeland. Anton was only 34 years old.
Anton Volodymyrovych was born on March 15, 1992, in the village of Lozove in the Derazhnia district of Khmelnytskyi region. He chose his life and professional path by following his heart, enrolling in the Kyiv Electromechanical College of Railway Transport. Immediately after graduating in July 2012, the young and promising specialist began working at the Zhmerinka signaling and communication distance of the regional branch "South-Western Railway."
Anton started his career as an electrician, repairing and servicing signaling, centralization, and blocking (SCB) devices. By March 2013, thanks to his high qualifications, sharp mind, and exceptional diligence, he took the position of electromechanic in the 1st group of the SCB servicing team on the strategically important section of the Komarivtsi – Korzhivtsi stations. He dedicated over 14 years of his life to ensuring the safety of train operations, becoming a true example of devotion to the railway profession. Colleagues respected him for his deep knowledge, wisdom, humanity, and remarkable ability to always support and encourage the team in difficult times.
In February 2022, from the first days of the full-scale invasion, Anton Volodymyrovych unhesitatingly took up the defense of Ukraine's integrity and was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. His decision to exchange peaceful work for the defense of the state was a manifestation of the highest patriotism and honor.
At the front, Junior Sergeant Varanytsia proved to be a determined, brave, and courageous warrior, filled with a thirst for life and our shared Victory. For his subordinates and comrades, he became a reliable mentor, who not only sincerely shared his military experience but also taught them to preserve and not lose their humanity even in the harshest trials of war.
On June 9, 2026, while carrying out combat missions in the Kharkiv direction, the heart of the brave railway warrior stopped beating. He remained faithful to his military oath and the Ukrainian people until his last breath.
Anton left behind a loving family, which was his reliable haven: parents, a wife, and a small son, for whom his father will forever remain a Hero.
The team of the Zhmerinka signaling and communication distance of the regional branch "South-Western Railway" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" expresses its deepest and most sincere condolences to Anton Varanytsia's parents, wife, son, relatives, and comrades. We share this unspeakable pain and bow our heads before the magnificent feat of our colleague and defender. The bright memory of Anton Volodymyrovych—a true Human—will live on in our hearts forever.
Eternal memory and honor to the Hero!
