Ivan Komarnytskyi
With unbearable pain and deep sorrow, the team of the Dnipro Locomotive Depot announces the tragic death of our colleague. On June 25, 2026, the life of a person filled with hard work, responsibility, and care for others was cut short. Ivan Ivanovych died in the Zaporizhzhia region as a result of an enemy FPV drone strike on an electric locomotive while performing his duties at the Zaporizhzhia-1 station.
Ivan Ivanovych was born on January 31, 1985, in the village of Tokove, Synelnykove District, Dnipropetrovsk Region. His life was inextricably linked to the railway—a profession to which he dedicated over two decades of his life. He began his career in 2003 as a passenger car conductor, gradually gaining experience and the respect of his colleagues. In 2009, he worked as a repairman for rolling stock, and from 2011, he served as an assistant locomotive engineer, remaining true to his profession until his last day.
Over 22 years of working on the railway, Ivan Ivanovych became not just a highly skilled specialist but also a person whom one could always rely on. Calm, kind, and sincere, he brought warmth and support to those around him. His words carried weight, and his help was truly valuable.
Today, it is hard to find words that could convey the pain of this loss. His family has been left orphaned, and so has the team that worked alongside him every day.
Ivan Ivanovych is survived by two daughters:
Karyna Ivanivna Komarnytska, born in 2007;
Yulianna Ivanivna Komarnytska, born in 2010.
They have lost the dearest person—their father, who loved them above all else, worked for their future, and dreamed of seeing them happy.
For his dedication to the profession, courage, and selfless fulfillment of duty in wartime, Ivan Ivanovych has been posthumously nominated for the honor "Iron in the Sky."
The bright memory of Ivan Ivanovych will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him. His life is an example of dignity, hard work, and humanity, while his death is an unspeakable pain and a wound that will not heal.
We express our sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.
We bow our heads in grief together with you.

Гарний хлопець був, дурного слова ніколи від Івана не чув
З ним і поїздка ніколи не була обтяжливою
