Oleksandr TARASYUK
Born on July 11, 1975, in his hometown of Korosten, where he spent his childhood and youth. He studied at the Korosten Educational Complex "School-Gymnasium No. 2 named after Volodymyr Syngaiivskyi." After school, he obtained a qualification as an electrical technician for servicing electrical equipment at Vocational Technical School No. 16.
He began his career on the railway in 1999 as a loader in the Korosten civil structures division. His experience in the railway sector spans 27 years.
In civilian life, Oleksandr was the life of any gathering. His genuine humor and zest for life always warmed those around him. He found true relaxation in nature: he enjoyed fishing and particularly loved tending to the family cottage. Friends and acquaintances remember him as an extraordinarily kind, hardworking, and bright person.
Oleksandr's military journey began in 2015. He took up arms to defend Ukraine's sovereignty in the ATO zone in Donetsk and Luhansk regions. For his bravery, he was awarded the "For Loyalty to the Oath" and "For the Defense of the Native State" medals.
On February 19, 2025, Oleksandr returned to the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in military unit A5002. Thanks to his combat experience and leadership skills, he rose from private to junior sergeant, holding the position of commander of the radio section of the communications platoon of the 2nd mechanized battalion.
In the military, Oleksandr was given the call sign "Shmatko." He bore the challenging mission of ensuring uninterrupted communication during the hottest moments of battle. Every word he transmitted often became crucial for saving the lives of his comrades.
Junior Sergeant Tarasyuk Oleksandr Petrovych was killed on January 26, 2026, while performing a combat task near the settlement of Pysarivka in the Sumy region. He remained faithful to his oath, his family, and his homeland until his last breath.
He was a loving son, a reliable brother, and a caring father to his daughter Karina, who was his greatest pride. The bright memory of this kind, cheerful, and brave person will forever live in the hearts of friends and relatives.
