Sergiy STANEVYCH
Serhiy Serhiyovych Stanevych, a train driver at the Zdolbuniv motor depot, tragically lost his life on May 13, 2026. His life was cut short at the age of 43 due to a treacherous enemy shelling of the railway infrastructure in the city, to which he dedicated his entire professional life. Serhiy was one of those "iron heroes" who ensured the movement of the country and saved lives during the toughest times.
Serhiy was born on March 16, 1983, in Zdolbuniv, Rivne region. The railway became not just a job for him, but a true family legacy and calling to which he devoted 27 years of diligent work. He served as a train driver in the "locomotive operation section" of the Zdolbuniv motor depot, part of the "Suburban Passenger Company" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia."
At the onset of the full-scale invasion, when millions of Ukrainians were seeking refuge, Serhiy Serhiyovych displayed true courage and patriotism. He repeatedly carried out evacuation trips with suburban trains, transporting people from dangerous areas. His determination and bravery during those days helped save hundreds of families.
May 13, 2026, became a dark day for the entire Zdolbuniv railway hub. Serhiy was riding his bicycle past an unused building located on the platform of the Zdolbuniv railway station when a hostile "Shahed" drone struck the structure. As a result of the explosion and structural collapse, Serhiy sustained multiple shrapnel wounds that proved fatal. The enemy took the life of the railway worker at his home station.
Serhiy Serhiyovych belonged to a strong railway family. His mother, Tetiana Stanevych, is a respected retiree from the Zdolbuniv motor depot, where she worked for many years as a senior personnel inspector. Serhiy continued this legacy, becoming a source of pride for the enterprise.
The depot management valued Serhiy as a highly skilled worker who never shied away from challenges and took on the most difficult tasks. Friends remember him as an exceptionally kind, sociable, polite, and determined person. He was a patriot of Ukraine, a loyal comrade on whom one could rely without hesitation.
Outside of work, Serhiy was a loving son and a wonderful father—his three daughters were a great source of comfort and pride in his life, and now they are left without their father's support and warmth.
The team at the Zdolbuniv motor depot and the entire railway community express their deepest condolences to his mother Tetiana, his daughters, and all of Serhiy Stanevych's loved ones. We share this indescribable pain from the irreparable loss.
His heroism during evacuation trips, his dedication to the railway, and his sincere heart will forever remain in the memory of those who worked alongside him and whom he saved.
Eternal and bright memory to Serhiy Serhiyovych Stanevych. Forever in our hearts.
