Vasyl Hrytsyuk

Vasyl was born on August 23, 1980, in the picturesque village of Sadzhavka in the Nadvirna district of Ivano-Frankivsk region. He grew up in a friendly and cozy family with his brother. It was here, among his closest loved ones, that his main life values were formed: honesty, hard work, unwavering principles, and deep, sincere humanity.

Vasyl Romanovych dedicated over 17 years to his life's work — the Ukrainian railway. His professional journey was filled with relentless effort:

Since 2003, he ensured summer transportation every year, working as a conductor of passenger cars in the car section at Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi station.

In 2009, he tied his fate to his native land, taking on the role of a conductor in the production unit of the "Passenger Car Depot Chernivtsi" of the "Passenger Company" branch of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia."

To his colleagues, Vasyl Romanovych was not just a top-notch professional and a wise advisor. He was a person who never backed down in the face of difficulties, always striving for impeccable results and able to unite a team around him. He was respected for his openness, reliability, and rare willingness to selflessly help everyone.

When a deadly threat loomed over Ukraine, Vasyl Romanovych did not hesitate to leave civilian work and joined the ranks of defenders. Since April 24, 2025, Junior Sergeant Vasyl Hrytsyuk bravely fulfilled his military duty. As the commander of a platoon in the assault battalion of the 225th separate assault regiment of the 3rd separate assault brigade, he received an extraordinarily symbolic and fitting call sign — "Conductor." On the front lines, just as in peaceful life, he confidently led people through any storm.

On November 29, 2025, during a complex combat mission as part of a reconnaissance group in the area of the settlement of Myropillya in Sumy region, "Conductor" engaged in his last fierce battle with the occupiers.

The journey home turned out to be long and painful. For many months, the warrior was officially considered missing in action. Only in June 2026 did a complex DNA test restore the Hero's glorious name. Until his last breath, he remained true to his military oath, giving his life for the freedom, independence, and future of Ukraine.

Vasyl Romanovych is survived by his grieving father and mother, a loving brother, and two wings of his continuation on earth — sons Vladyslav and Petro.
