The team of the Fastiv-1 motor car depot and the entire railway family bow their heads in deep sorrow. We have lost a sincere colleague, a talented person, and a brave warrior who gave his life for a free Ukraine.

Vasyl was born in the Zhytomyr region, in the village of Lebedyntsi. After studying at the Koziatyn Higher Vocational School of Railway Transport, he began his working journey, which lasted 18 years.
Working as a 3rd category repair mechanic at the Fastiv-1 depot, he became the true soul of the team. Colleagues remember him as:

A professional: a diligent, disciplined, and exceptionally responsible worker.

A personality: a person with a wonderful sense of humor who always radiated kindness. He was always ready to help anyone in need.

On January 20, 2023, Vasyl joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Service in the assault troops required extraordinary courage, and he became an example of dedication for his comrades. Vasyl bravely resisted the occupiers, believing that his duty was to make Ukraine strong and free.

On April 30, 2026, during a combat mission in the vicinity of the settlement of Vidradne in the Dnipropetrovsk region, Vasyl Utchenko was killed. He defended the freedom of his country until his last breath.

Outside of work and service, Vasyl had a special passion—wood carving. He had many plans for the future and believed in the victory of light over darkness.

We express our deepest condolences to his mother Zoia, brothers Oleg, Serhii, Oleksandr, and sister Natalia. We share your pain over the loss of a loving son and brother.

“His hands could create beauty from wood and repair complex machines, while his heart knew only one language—the language of love for his homeland.”

Eternal memory and honor to our colleague and Hero! His name will forever remain in the hearts of the railway family.
