Andrii BABIUK
Andrii Mykhailovych Babiuk was born on January 21, 1972, in the city of Koziatyn. After school, he enrolled in the Vinnytsia Automobile Road Technical School. Upon graduation, two of his most cherished dreams came true: he got married, and his parents gifted him a motorcycle for the wedding. Andrii and his wife traveled almost all over Ukraine on it. Later, their son Dmytro was born, followed by his compulsory military service, which took him to the first war—Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan. There, he was injured. He completed his service in the helicopter regiment in Korosten.
He began his career at a depot but later moved to a meat processing plant. In 2010, he returned to the locomotive depot. He worked as a locksmith-electrician repairing electrical equipment of the 4th category in the production unit "Koziatyn Locomotive Depot" of the regional branch "South-Western Railway" of JSC "Ukrainian Railways." His work experience in the railway sector was 7 years.
In 2014, the war began. In 2015, Andrii Mykhailovych went to defend his loved ones. For two years, the young grandfather, a participant in the ATO, faced death on the Luhansk front, and then he returned to the depot.
On February 24, 2022, he was on a business trip in Myronivka. His daughter and her husband brought the children, and on the first day, they went to the Territorial Defense Forces. Fate then took them to Bakhmut, where they liberated the Kharkiv and Kherson regions. Later, his son also went to fight. A year later, in 2023, the children came on leave, and Andrii Mykhailovych couldn't bear it and told his wife: "The kids are fighting, and I'm lying on the couch. Tomorrow at 5 AM, I need to be at the military enlistment office." His wife sent him off to war for the third time. Andrii Mykhailovych immediately went to the Pokrovsk direction. Over two years, he served in almost all directions. He volunteered for the most difficult tasks and took charge of the evacuation of his comrades. In two years of service, he suffered no losses. He knew how to lead the guys safely. He executed all assigned tasks so precisely that he earned the call sign "Jeweler." The guys respected him and joked, "You're lucky, Jeweler."
On July 3, he sustained serious injuries, underwent 5 surgeries, experienced cardiac arrest, and was resuscitated. His wife was always by his side, supporting him as best she could, believing and hoping. The doctors did everything possible, but unfortunately, on July 22, 2025, a true patriot with a heightened sense of justice, a sincere and caring Andrii Mykhailovych Babiyuk, who fought for his land and home, passed away. He wanted to return with Victory.
A cheerful, kind, and self-assured man helped and supported everyone who came into his sight.
Andrii is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren. We express our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones.
The team at the Koziatyn Locomotive Depot deeply mourns the irreparable loss. Eternal memory and honor to the Hero!
