Andrii Olshansky was born in Moscow, where his father was studying at the time. In 1992, the family moved to Kostopil in the Rivne region. Andrii graduated from local school No. 4 and studied at the National University of Water Management and Nature Management in Rivne. During his studies, he underwent military training and received the rank of junior lieutenant. After completing his studies, he worked on the railway as a train assembler at Klevan station, Rivne region.

In August 2014, Andrii volunteered to join the ATO. Until September 2015, he carried out combat missions in Donetsk Oblast as part of the "Horyn" battalion. As a combat participant, he was in the operational reserve. On the first day of the full-scale war, he donned military uniform again, and the next day, the railway worker was already part of the 130th Separate Reconnaissance Battalion. Andrii served as the commander of a mechanized reconnaissance platoon. Since January 2023, he fought in the Zaporizhzhia direction, participating in the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the liberation of Robotyne. In October 2024, he took part in a successful special operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk direction.

34-year-old Andrii Olshansky was killed on October 26, 2024. During a combat mission, Andrii was wounded. He died during evacuation due to an enemy drone attack.

According to his comrades-in-arms, Andrii Olshansky was a brave fighter and a competent commander.

At the Kleman railway station, where Andriy worked for many years, a memorial plaque was installed in his honor. This memorial will be an eternal reminder of his professionalism, dedication to the cause, and significant contribution to the defense of our country. The memory of his colleague will live on in the hearts of those who had the honor of working alongside him.

Andrii was awarded:

the Presidential Award of Ukraine "Cross of Combat Merit";

the badge of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine "Silver Cross";

the honorary award of the Commander of the troops of the Operational Command "West" "For Achievements in Military Service" of the II degree;

the award from the Chief of the Intelligence Directorate of the Operational Command "South";

the badge of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine "For Exemplary Service".
