Andrii TERTYSHNYI
Andriy Tertyshny was born in the city of Dnipro. He graduated from the Dnipropetrovsk Railway Transport Technical School. In 1998, he began his career as an assistant locomotive driver at the Dnipropetrovsk (later Dnipro) locomotive depot. He worked for some time in the same unit as a repair mechanic for rolling stock, and later became a locomotive driver (1st qualification). He worked on the railway for nearly 30 years.
On March 25, 2022, Andriy was mobilized into the National Guard of Ukraine. He served as a senior gunner of the mortar platoon in the 2nd operational battalion "Irbis" of the 1st Presidential Operational Brigade "Bureviy" of the National Guard.
48-year-old senior soldier Andriy Tertyshny was killed on January 22, 2025, during combat operations in the village of Pishchane, Kharkiv region.
Yevhen Zuyev, the deputy head of the Dnipro locomotive depot for operations, describes the fallen colleague as a "positive person": "He was a life-loving individual, never complained, and always had good intentions," he said. "He loved football and was an avid fan. A very decent person and a high-class professional. At the beginning of the war, when he was offered military service, he couldn't refuse and went to defend his country. He was a highly respected and authoritative person. The team is in mourning at the mere mention of this loss." His wife, Olha, shared that Andriy attracted her attention with his kindness and sincerity. He loved her and their daughter Hanna (who is now 14 years old), his parents, and younger brother, and was always willing to help others. He enjoyed fishing with friends on weekends. He valued sincerity and loyalty in people above all, believing in unconditional trust. Trust was extremely important to him in relationships with colleagues, friends, and family.
Andriy is survived by his wife Olha, daughter Hanna, parents, and younger brother. We express our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones.
The team at the Dnipro locomotive depot deeply mourns this irreparable loss. Eternal memory and honor to our colleague and Hero!
