Hennadiy IVCHENKO

Gennady Leonidovich was born in the town of Shevchenkove, Shevchenkivskyi District, Kharkiv Oblast. In 1993, he joined the "iron" family, becoming a trackman at the Izium Track Division of the Southern Railway regional branch of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia." He dedicated over 29 years to the railway.

Colleagues remember him as an enthusiastic, disciplined, and responsible worker, kind and polite, with a wonderful sense of humor.

On May 27, 2024, Gennady joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend his homeland.

Gennady Leonidovich died on July 6, 2024, defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine while carrying out a combat mission in Donetsk region.

His wife Inna recalls him as a person who loved fishing and spending time in nature. “Gennady could sit for hours by the river waiting for a bite and enjoying the scenery,” she says. Additionally, Gennady adored working the land, had a small garden and his own farm, and always said, “Where I was born, there I am needed; I won’t go anywhere from here.” He was a loving son, husband, and father, and simply a good person who never refused to help anyone.

Gennady is survived by his parents, wife, and son.

The team at the Izium Track Division deeply mourns and expresses sincere condolences to Gennady Leonidovich's family and loved ones. We will remember him as a loyal comrade who gave his life so that we could live in peace. His place among the railway defenders will never be empty. Eternal glory and memory!
