Ihor Tsvihun

Igor Vasylovych Tsvihun, a devoted railway worker with over 16 years of experience and a brave assault soldier, gave his life for the independence and freedom of Ukraine on July 5, 2024. His earthly journey ended while performing a combat mission near the village of New York in the Bakhmut district of Donetsk region. He was 48 years old.

For many months, his family and loved ones lived in a state of hope and pain, praying and waiting for a miracle, but the war proved merciless, taking one of Ukraine's finest sons.

Igor Vasylovych tied his fate to railway transport at the end of 2007 and remained loyal to the enterprise throughout his peaceful life. He worked as a painter of the 3rd category in the wagon assembly section of the "Zhmerynka Repair Wagon Depot" branch of "UZ Vagon-Service" JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia." He dedicated over 16 years of diligent work to the railway.

Colleagues remember Igor as an extremely responsible worker and a person with a big, sincere heart. He earned deserved respect in the workforce, always performing his duties with quality and being ready to lend a helping hand to his comrades.

With the onset of the full-scale invasion, Igor Vasylovych could not remain on the sidelines and was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine on April 27, 2022.

He held the position of grenade launcher in the 3rd assault squad of the 2nd assault platoon of the 2nd assault company.

He consciously chose the path of a defender, risking his life daily in the most challenging areas of the front. For his comrades, Igor became a reliable friend and a faithful battle brother. He fought his last battle in Donetsk region, remaining devoted to his military oath and the Ukrainian people until the end.

Igor was born on April 18, 1976, in the village of Stanislavchyk in the Zhmerynka district of Vinnytsia region. He lived his entire life in this village. He was a true patriot of his homeland, made plans for the future, loved his land, and valued the comfort of his home above all.

His death was the greatest loss for his family, where he was a strong support, protection, and their greatest pride.

We express our deepest condolences to the Hero's wife, Liliya Mykolayivna, and his son, Stanislav.

The team of the "Zhmerynka Repair Wagon Depot" deeply mourns this irreparable loss. We share the indescribable pain of the family and bow our heads in deep sorrow.

Igor Tsvihun's name will forever be inscribed in the history of our community and the railway as a symbol of courage, honor, and boundless love for Ukraine.
