Mykhailo HUZHELIA
Mykhailo Huzhelia was born in the city of Apostolove, Dnipropetrovsk region. In 2010, he began working on the railway as a mason at the Apostolivska inspection section of the Kryvyi Rih construction and installation operational management of the Dnipro Railway. He later served as a speed regulator for freight cars at the Apostolove station of the Kryvyi Rih railway transport directorate and as a third-grade mason at the Kryvyi Rih territorial management of the "Center for Construction and Installation Works and Operation of Buildings and Structures." From September 2022 until his mobilization, he worked as a track layer at the Apostolivska track distance.
Mykhailo's mother, Anzhela Leonidivna, shares that her son was a kind, caring, and very hardworking person: "He loved and knew how to work, was diligent, and extremely responsible. He studied to be a welder, but after finishing college, he went to work as a mason. My husband and I are railway builders. We taught our son everything we know and can do, so he decided to follow our professional path and then moved to the track sector. In his youth, he engaged in sports—powerlifting and weightlifting. He participated in the 'Strongman Games,' winning prizes. He loved his wife and two children dearly. His eldest, Matviy, will soon turn 9, and his youngest, Myroslava, is not yet a year old. He did everything for them; all his plans and dreams were tied to his family."
The master of the Apostolivska track distance, Roman Pustovyi, noted that Mykhailo was a conscientious and decent person, a hardworking, diligent, and responsible employee: "He had no bad habits, loved working with his hands, and completed assigned tasks diligently. He endured the difficulties of the heavy work of a trackman patiently and steadfastly. If there was a need to repair the living quarters of the outpost, he would take on the construction work. In his free time from the railway, he took on extra jobs to adequately support his family, where two children were growing up. In my fourteen years as a master, I have rarely met people like Myshko."
On May 13, 2024, Mykhailo was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as an operator in the first section of anti-tank missile systems of the anti-tank missile platoon.
On October 22 of the same year, the 33-year-old soldier was killed during combat near the village of Terny in the Donetsk region.
To honor the fallen railway soldier, a memorial corner for Mykhailo Huzhelia was established at the Apostolivska track distance.
