Mykola Lysyuk
Mykola was born on March 17, 1970, in the village of Babyn in the Vinnytsia region. After obtaining a qualification as a tractor driver-mechanic at the Zoziv Vocational School, he became accustomed to honest and diligent work. His journey in the "iron family" began just days before the great war—on February 16, 2022, when he joined the team of the Khrystynivka railway distance.
Although he worked at the depot for a very short time, his colleagues will forever remember him as an enthusiastic, disciplined, and incredibly cheerful man. Mykola had a wonderful sense of humor that uplifted those around him even in the toughest moments. Even during brief leaves from the front, he always made time to visit his railway friends, inquire about news on the tracks, and share stories from the front lines.
Mykola Hryhorovych did not hesitate for a moment: on the third day of the full-scale invasion, February 26, 2022, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as a gunner in a military unit.
Junior Sergeant Mykola Hryhorovych Lysiuk, a gunner of the assault unit, was killed on April 2, 2024, while performing a combat mission near the settlement of Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region. That day, he was considered missing in action, but later the worst was confirmed—he fought his last battle, remaining faithful to Ukraine until the end. He was 54 years old.
During his service, Junior Sergeant Lysiuk proved to be a resilient and brave warrior who fought valiantly for the independence of our state in the hottest areas of conflict.
Mykola was not only a courageous soldier but also a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He dreamed of victory so he could return to his loved ones and raise his granddaughter under peaceful skies once again.
Mykola Hryhorovych is survived by his wife, two daughters, and granddaughter.
The team of the Khrystynivka railway distance of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" bows its head in deep sorrow and boundless gratitude before the heroism of our colleague. We have lost a bright person, a professional, and a brave Hero who stood up to defend his homeland in the hardest of times. His zest for life, courage, and ultimate sacrifice for freedom will forever remain in the memory of our railway family. Eternal memory and honor to the Hero!
