Mykola Omelyanenko
Mykola Omelyanenko was born in the village of Velykyi Shchymel in the Chernihiv region. In 1997, he graduated from Shchorsky Professional Technical School No. 7, obtaining qualifications as a tractor operator, repair mechanic, and driver.
In December 2003, Mykola began working on the railway as a 2nd class trackman for the Shchorsky track distance of the South-Western Railway. He later worked as a truck driver at the Konotop Construction and Installation Operational Management of the regional branch of the "South-Western Railway."
He was a responsible, disciplined, and proactive employee who diligently fulfilled his duties. The vehicles assigned to him were always kept in exemplary condition. Additionally, Mykola actively participated in the reconstruction of the Kyiv Children's Railway, the high odd-numbered coastal platform at the Knyazhichi station, and the platform near track No. 14 at the Kyiv-Passazhyrskyi station to facilitate the boarding and alighting of passengers from the rail bus. Mykola maintained good relationships with his colleagues, earning their respect and authority. He helped them in difficult situations and was never one to abandon anyone in need. He was remembered as a kind, honest, friendly, and cheerful person.
On the very first day of the full-scale invasion, soldier Mykola Omelyanenko, without hesitation, took up arms to defend his homeland and was called up for military service through mobilization.
His wife, Olha, noted in the petition for the title of Hero of Ukraine: "Devoted to his military oath of loyalty to the Ukrainian people, he courageously fulfilled his duty. Mykola died in battle for Ukraine, its freedom, and independence. He gave for us and our independence the most precious thing a person can give—his life."
44-year-old Mykola Omelyanenko was killed on March 30, 2024, in the area of the village of Pobieda in the Pokrovsk district of Donetsk region.
At home, Mykola was awaited by his mother, wife, and underage daughter and son.
