The railway has lost one of its most dedicated craftsmen, and Ukraine has lost a heroic defender whose courage was recognized at the highest level. Sergiy was born on July 8, 1974, in Melitopol. Choosing the path of a railway worker, he graduated from the Simferopol Railway Transport Technical School, obtaining the qualification of a track technician.

For over 33 years of his life, Sergiy dedicated himself to the railways. His career began in December 1992 at the Melitopol track maintenance unit. Over three decades, he progressed through all levels of professional mastery: from track installer to freed brigade leader and track master. Since 2011, he worked at the Melitopol Railway Machine Station, where, from April 2016, he held the position of track master. Colleagues remember him as a strong-willed, demanding professional and an exceptionally experienced specialist. In the team, he was a reliable friend and a kind person, whose word was always trustworthy.

With the onset of the full-scale invasion, Serhiy took up the defense of our country's sovereignty. His bravery and military skill were repeatedly recognized by the command. He was awarded the Presidential Badge of Ukraine "For the Defense of Ukraine" and was twice honored with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine's "Golden Cross" — an award given for successful completion of combat missions and personal courage.

The life of the Hero was cut short on April 17, 2026, while performing a combat mission near the settlement of Velykomykhailivka in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. Serhiy remained true to his oath and his country until his last breath.

Outside of service, he was a loving husband and father, dedicating all his free time to his family. Sergiy is survived by his wife and two daughters.

The team at the Melitopol Railway Machine Station of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" expresses its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of our colleague. We bow our heads in honor of the great feat and the bright memory of a person who dedicated his life to the creation and defense of Ukraine.

Eternal memory and honor to the Hero!
