Roman Kushko
Roman was born in the city of Melitopol. He chose his professional path by the call of his heart: he studied at the Melitopol Vocational Railway Transport College and graduated from the Dnipropetrovsk College of Transport Infrastructure in 2015. He joined the railway in November 2013 and dedicated 12 years of his life to the Melitopol Locomotive Depot. His colleagues knew him as an exceptionally responsible specialist who sincerely loved his work.
On March 22, 2022, Roman was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. For the courage he displayed in battle, he was awarded the honorary badge of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine — the "Golden Cross" — in December 2023.
Junior Sergeant Roman Oleksandrovych Kyshko, a repairman of rolling stock, was killed on November 21, 2025, while performing a combat mission near the settlement of Rybnoye in the Polohy district of Zaporizhia region. He was 33 years old.
His wife Olga recalls: “Roman fearlessly and without hesitation joined the ranks of the defenders of Ukraine. He went to protect his native land, his people, and the future of his family for the sake of their children.”
They got married in October 2022, and a year later, they welcomed a son, Oleksandr, named after his grandfather. Roman was an exceptionally caring and loving father to his sons Pavlo and Sashko.
Roman is survived by his wife and two sons.
The team at the Melitopol Locomotive Depot of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia," which is now forced to operate in various parts of Ukraine due to the occupation of their hometown, bows their heads in profound sorrow and high respect for Roman Kushko. Eternal memory to our colleague!
