Oleh Horchak
On August 24, 2026, on Ukraine's Independence Day, during a combat mission near the village of Oleksiivka in the Synelnykove district of Dnipropetrovsk region, railway worker and brave defender of the Motherland Oleg Andriyovych Horchak was killed. His life was cut short by a strike from an enemy FPV drone. The warrior was 40 years old.
Oleg was born on September 12, 1985, in the village of Krasne in the Busk district of Lviv region—a proud railway region to which he dedicated his entire adult life. He began his career on the steel highways in 2005 and devoted 21 years of diligent work to the railway transport sector.
In his team, Oleg Andriyovych was known as a highly skilled specialist, a responsible and disciplined worker. He earned the respect of his colleagues, was a person of sincere heart, a reliable companion, and a loyal friend who never sought easy paths.
From the very first months of the full-scale invasion, Oleg made a conscious decision to defend his homeland. On June 22, 2022, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where he honorably and with dignity fulfilled his military duty with a weapon in hand.
It is both symbolic and painful that he fought his last battle on the very holiday of our state—Ukraine's Independence Day, for which he consciously gave the most precious thing—his own life.
The team at JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" deeply mourns this irreparable loss and expresses sincere condolences to the family, friends, and comrades of Oleg Horchak. His dedication to the Oath, courage, and contribution to the future of a free Ukraine will forever remain a model of service to the people.
Eternal memory and honor to the Hero!
