Tetiana TKACHUK
Tetiana Tkachuk was born in the village of Kanychi, Mogilev Region (Belarus).
In October 2007, she began working on the railway as a second-class equipment operator at the Nikopol Locomotive Depot of the Dnipro Railway (later known as the Nikopol Reverse Depot of the Kryvyi Rih Locomotive Depot). Her work experience in the railway industry spanned approximately 17 years.
62-year-old Tetiana Tkachuk died on November 17, 2024. On that morning, there was an enemy artillery shelling. Workers from the reverse depot, including Tetiana, were in the corridor of the building, following the "two walls" rule. As a result of an explosive detonation, the shockwave and shrapnel spread through the corridor, leading to her death.
The foreman of the maintenance point at the Nikopol reverse depot, Oleksandr Kalynichenko, shared that Tetiana Mykhailivna equipped locomotives with sand and also dried it using gas equipment. "The work is not easy – sand equipping takes place outdoors in any weather and season." She managed her duties despite being an elderly retiree who traveled a long distance to work. Her husband Viktor mentioned that they lived in harmony for nearly 43 years: "I called her Mother Teresa because she was very kind to everyone." Tetiana was a good housekeeper. The family was forced to leave Nikopol due to constant shelling and relocate to the village of Dmytrivka in the Nikopol district.
Tetiana is survived by her husband Viktor and two sons – Vadym and Andrii (both serving in law enforcement). We express our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones.
The team at the Kryvyi Rih Locomotive Depot mourns the irreparable loss. Eternal memory and honor to our colleague!
