Valeriy KULAK
Valeriy Kulak was born in Kyiv. After finishing 8th grade, he enrolled in a vocational school. Following that, he served in the military. He graduated from the Kharkiv Electromechanical Technical School, worked at Ukrtelecom, and obtained a higher education from the Kyiv University of Information and Telecommunications Technologies. Valeriy often visited his relatives in Koziatyn, where he met his future wife. Together, in love, they raised their sons.
In 2018, Valeriy began working on the railway. He was a 4th class shooter in the shooting team of the Vinnytsia station of the "Departmental Militarized Guard," as his calm demeanor suited the profession of a shooter best.
On September 28, 2022, Valeriy was called up to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In March 2024, he was sent to the Kharkiv direction, where he remained near Kupiansk.
51-year-old soldier Valeriy Kulak was killed on August 8, 2024, in the vicinity of the settlement of Synkivka in the Kharkiv region.
From birth, Valeriy was left-handed, but his colleagues said he had "two right hands," as he could craft anything.
"Valeriy didn't have a call sign; we called him by name or 'the telephone operator.' He was very reliable, and we respected him. He saw everyone off to their positions and welcomed everyone back after battles," recalled the commander of the unit where Valeriy served.
For his grandson's baptism, Valeriy made an unexpected surprise for his family: he came home for three days, where he saw the boy for the first time and jokingly called him "Mr. Director." After that, it was back to the front lines.
His wife, Svitlana, said of her husband: "In our 30 years of life together, he told me everything. He just didn't tell me how to live without him now."
The team of the shooting squad at the Vinnytsia station of the "Departmental Militarized Guard" deeply mourns the irreparable loss and expresses sincere condolences to Valeriy Kulak's family and loved ones. We will forever cherish the bright memory of our brave colleague-hero. Eternal memory and honor!
