Vasyl Zelenko
Vasyl Mykolaiovych was born in the picturesque village of Rozumivka in the Oleksandriia district of Kirovohrad region. After finishing school, he obtained an education at the State Metallurgical Academy of Ukraine, graduating in 1998 as a thermal engineer.
In April 2011, he joined the large railway family, starting his work as a third-category boiler operator in the repair and mechanical shop of the separate unit "Dniprodzerzhynsk Plant of Reinforced Concrete Structures" of the Dnipro Railway. Through his work, he proved to be a true professional, and from April 2019, he continued his service as a third-category shooter in the Dnipro Detachment of the Militarized Guard. He was a shooter in the shooting team No. 5 of Chaplyne, part of the "Dnipro Detachment of the Militarized Guard" of the "Corporate Security Service" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia." For almost fifteen years, he devoted his life to serving the Ukrainian railway—humbly, diligently, with a deep sense of duty to the people and the state.
In January 2022, Vasyl Mykolaiovych joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, signing a contract and taking on the duty to defend the state during its most challenging times. To his comrades, he was a pillar, a man of honor, resilience, and true warrior spirit. He remained loyal to his oath and to Ukraine until the end.
On November 8, 2025, while defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, Vasyl Mykolaiovych was killed during his service in the combat zone as a result of an FPV drone strike.
Colleagues remember Vasyl as a person of great soul—responsible, honest, punctual, calm, yet determined. His sense of humor and life wisdom brought warmth to the team, while his diligence and reliability earned him sincere respect. He never refused to help, always supporting others with kind words and his own example. This is why only the best memories of him remain, filled with sincerity and gratitude.
Vasyl is survived by his wife and children.
The team of the Dnipro Detachment of the Militarized Guard deeply mourns this irreparable loss and expresses heartfelt condolences to Vasyl Mykolaiovych's family and loved ones. Eternal memory to a worthy man.
