Volodymyr ARTEMOVYCH
Volodymyr Artemovych was born in the village of Nyzhchi Lubyanky in the Ternopil region. He joined the railway workforce at nearly forty. Although the job of a trackman is not easy, Volodymyr found this railway profession to be his calling. Here, in the team of the 11th section of the Ternopil track distance, he would probably still be working if enemy forces had not invaded Ukrainian land…
Volodymyr was called up to the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the first day of the full-scale war. Upon receiving his summons, he immediately headed to the territorial recruitment center, and since then, he has been selflessly fighting alongside his comrades to reclaim occupied territories.
“Volodymyr had a calm disposition, but at the same time, he was persistent and dedicated to his work, caring not only about results but also about order in the workplace,” recalls Andriy Bazkyv, a track master from the 11th section of the Ternopil track distance. “During his short leaves from the front, he always found time to visit the distance and greet his colleagues…”
Unfortunately, he was not destined to return to his work team. The life path of 45-year-old Volodymyr Artemovych was cut short on August 4, 2024, near Novomykolaivka in Zaporizhzhia, due to a fatal wound sustained while carrying out a combat mission. The railway worker, soldier, and hero returned to his native Zbarazh in Ternopil region on a shield.
Volodymyr is survived by his wife and father.
The team of the Ternopil track distance is deeply saddened and extends heartfelt condolences to Volodymyr Artemovych's family and loved ones. The bright memory of our brave colleague, who defended his native land until his last breath, will live on in our hearts. Heroes never die!
