Volodymyr SAMOILENKO
Volodymyr Mykolaiovych Samoylenko was born on April 5, 1991, in the village of Zaitseve, Synelnykove District, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. He graduated from the Dnipropetrovsk Institute of Transport Engineers (DIIT).
He began his career on the railway in 2017 as an electromechanic in the third group of the Lower Dnipro Electrical Supply Division. He worked as an electromechanic in the third group of the Lower Dnipro Electrical Supply Division of the regional branch "Pridniprovsk Railway." He worked on the railway for nearly 5 years.
From the first days of the war, Volodymyr took up the defense of his homeland. On February 26, 2022, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
He died on November 15, 2024, in the city of Sloviansk, Donetsk Oblast, as a result of enemy airstrikes. He was considered missing for a long time. A death certificate was issued to his family only on July 4, 2025.
"There are practically no specialists like Volodymyr left now," assures senior electromechanic Mykola Voichyk. "He often stayed after work, repeatedly fixing and adjusting things where necessary; he constantly kept order in the workshops. His technical devices were always in excellent condition. He endured service difficulties with resilience. He did not hide from the military draft, saying that it was necessary to defend the homeland." His mother, Viktoriia Anatoliivna, remembers her son as cheerful, generous, always ready to help, and a welcome guest in any company. "I am seriously ill, and Volodymyr was very worried about me. When he went to war, he called me every evening to encourage me. Whenever he came home on leave, he would take on everything, trying to do as much as possible around the house, especially where strong male hands were needed. He spent a lot of money on power tools, dreaming of his own house, a strong family, and a son. But his beloved wife gave birth to a daughter. He dreamed of returning home on leave as soon as possible to hold the little one in his arms. But an enemy shelling cut his life short."
Volodymyr is survived by his mother, civil partner, and daughter. We express our sincere condolences to Volodymyr's family and loved ones.
The team of the Lower Dnipro Electrical Supply Division mourns the irreparable loss. Eternal memory and honor to our colleague and hero.
