Yuriy Soroka

Yuriy was born in the village of Strabychovo in the Zakarpattia region. He received his education at the Lviv Railway Transport Technical School. He began his career on the railway in 2017, and from 2018 he worked as an assistant driver of an electric locomotive at the Mukachevo Locomotive Depot, where he quickly earned the respect of his colleagues. He dedicated a total of 7 years to the railway.

Colleagues remember Yuriy as a passionate, disciplined, and responsible worker with a wonderful sense of humor. He will remain in our hearts as an example of a true friend and a worthy man, always with a smile and kind words.

In December 2023, Yurii was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Yuriy, the assistant driver of an electric locomotive, was killed on February 12, 2024, during an enemy shelling in the battle for Ukraine near the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region.

He is survived by his wife and son.

The team at the Mukachevo Locomotive Depot of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" bows their heads in deep, sorrowful mourning for Yuriy. His responsibility, bright disposition, and ultimate sacrifice will forever be our symbol of resilience. Eternal memory to the Warrior!
