A Million for Dreams: How the "Iron Family" Created a Holiday for the Children of Fallen Heroes
This December became special for hundreds of children in our "Iron Family." Thanks to the incredible support of Ukrainians, we managed to turn grief into warmth, and donations into a real celebration.
At the beginning of the month, on December 3, Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, CEO of Ukrzaliznytsia, used his birthday to call for support for the children of deceased railway workers instead of receiving personal gifts. The result exceeded expectations: over 1,000,000 UAH was raised in just over 24 hours!
This allowed us to quickly purchase gifts and organize a large-scale event.
Celebration at the Central Station
On Saturday, December 13, Kyiv Central Station turned into a holiday residence. We invited 70 children of fallen railway workers from different parts of the country to the capital.
However, no one was left without attention. There are currently 534 children in our family who have lost their parents due to the war. For every child unable to come to Kyiv, the holiday will come to their home. Each child receives a large LEGO advent calendar and a soft, warm blanket. These are not just items — they are symbols of our shared embrace, keeping them warm even at a distance.

A Word from the CEO
"I really wanted to convert warm birthday wishes into warmth for those who need it most. My son has parents, I am happy to have parents — but we all need to hug and support these little ones more often.
The one-million-hryvnia goal was met with incredible speed. I am infinitely grateful to everyone who felt this pain and supported us. Your care allowed us to purchase the most useful gifts and organize this day. This is proof of how we can do great things together," said Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, CEO of Ukrzaliznytsia.

After the ceremony at the station, the children visited the "Respublika" shopping mall for attractions and even more joyful emotions.
We thank our partners and every donor. You didn't just close a fundraiser — you gave children faith in a miracle.
And our warmest embrace goes to our fellow railway workers. You not only keep the country moving, but you also find the strength to support the children of your fallen comrades.
Thank you for your donations, for sharing the news, and for the warmth with which you surrounded the children. To those who created the celebration at the station — your dedication, time, and the sincere smiles you gifted these children are priceless. You are incredible!
