Dmytro SMETANKA

Dmytro was born on March 21, 1979, in the village of Buton, Sverdlovsk Oblast (Russia). Since 2000, he worked as a 6th-grade lumberjack at the Znamianka protective afforestation distance, dedicating over 22 years of his life to the railway.

Colleagues remember Dmytro as a kind, hardworking person, a responsible, balanced, and composed employee.

Having joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Dmytro held the defense honorably and was a loyal comrade.

Dmytro heroically died on February 20, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission in the area of the settlement of Marinka in Donetsk Oblast.

Dmytro is survived by his father and a brother and sister.
