Mykhailo Shevchenko
Mykhailo was born in the village of Komyshuvakha in the Luhansk region and lived in Sloviansk. He graduated from the Popasna Lyceum (as a gas-electric welder) and the Berdyansk Institute of Management (higher education). He worked on the railway as a trackman of the 4th category in the Sloviansk track distance (PCh-Sloviansk).
He was an experienced military man (served in the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs) and was mobilized on February 11, 2022. He served as a driver-paramedic in the engineering-sapper platoon of the 81st Airborne Brigade. He fought in the Kharkiv and Donetsk directions and was wounded in June 2022.
40-year-old Senior Soldier Mykhailo Shevchenko tragically died on November 15, 2022, in Kramatorsk. His death was the result of a traffic accident he was involved in while returning from a combat mission.
Friends remember him as a communicative, decisive, and stress-resistant man. In civilian life, he engaged in sports, loved fishing, and hunting. His sister shared that he was "a person with a big heart," a wonderful support, and his comrades called him "Brotherly Heart." After Victory, Mykhailo planned to rebuild the railway in his native Luhansk region.
Mykhailo is survived by his daughter, mother, and sister.
The team of the Sloviansk track distance (PCh) of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" mourns the memory of their colleague with profound sorrow. His active life position, determination, and dream of restoring the railway in Luhansk are the legacy of our shared struggle. Glory to the memory of Mykhailo, a Hero with a big heart!
