He was an experienced warrior: from 2014 to 2015, he participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO). On February 25, 2022, Serhiy voluntarily joined the ranks of defenders. He served as a reconnaissance operator in the anti-tank missile platoon of the 17th Separate Kryvyi Rih Tank Brigade. In August 2022, he was injured.
38-year-old Sergeant Serhiy Horyanyi was killed on December 29, 2022, during combat near the village of Krasna Hora in the Donetsk region.
His older sister Natalia spoke about the tragic losses: Serhiy's wife passed away six months after his death due to heart complications. Their two children—son Danylo (a student-electromonter) and daughter Daryna (a second-grader)—are now under the care of their grandmother.
Serhiy was awarded the badge of honor from the Kryvyi Rih City Council "For Services to the City" of the III degree.
The fallen defender is survived by his mother, son, and daughter.
The team at the Baturynska Operational Wagon Depot of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" mourns deeply and honors the memory of their colleague. We are proud of his patriotism and support his children. Eternal memory!
