Vitaliy TORKOV
Vitaliy was born in the village of Zelenyi Hai in the Kryvyi Rih district of Dnipropetrovsk region. He studied at the Center for Training and Retraining of Workers No. 1 in Kryvyi Rih. He started working on the railway in September 2018 as a trackman in the Kryvyi Rih track division, where his father had also worked. He worked there for 7 years.
In October 2020, he was called up for compulsory military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The leadership of the unit where Vitaliy served submitted a recommendation for him to be awarded the Order of "For Courage" III degree (posthumously).
He was killed on December 10, 2024, while carrying out a combat mission in the Donetsk direction. He was considered missing until October 2025.
Yevhen Kryvoryt, the master of the Kryvyi Rih track division, remembers Vitaliy as a kind, decent, conscientious, and caring person: "There were no complaints about his work. He was responsible, knew his job well, and worked diligently. He had friendly relations with his colleagues, and the guys respected him. When he came home on leave from the military, he would visit the team, talk about himself, and ask how we were doing here."
His wife Anastasia shared that Vitaliy was very calm, balanced, and always willing to help: "He supported his family, me, friends, and fellow soldiers, even when he was very tired. He was a jack-of-all-trades: he cooked very well, didn't consider it shameful to clean the apartment or do laundry, and could fix a car by himself. He was passionate about motorcycles and dreamed of owning one. He stood firmly by his family and me. He loved our son very much, was a role model and authority for him. He taught the little one to write and loved to treat him to something delicious. He never yelled or pressured; he always tried to negotiate and find common ground."
Vitaliy is survived by his parents, brother, wife, and son.
The team of the Kryvyi Rih track division deeply mourns this irreparable loss and expresses sincere condolences to the family, wife, and son of the railway soldier Vitaliy. Eternal memory and honor to our colleague and hero.
