Yevhen Hychko
Yevhen was born in the city of Zvyagel (formerly Novograd-Volynskyi) in the Zhytomyr region. Choosing the path of a railway worker, he graduated from the Kozyatyn Vocational School of Railway Transport. In 2021, he began his career at the Zvyagel I station. Over four years of experience, he proved himself to be a talented specialist, quickly earning respect not only among his peers but also among seasoned masters.
On the second day of the full-scale invasion, February 25, 2022, Yevhen voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
He defended the country as part of the drone battalion, where he bravely fulfilled the duties of an operator.
Yevhen, a wagon inspector and courageous volunteer soldier, was killed on January 2, 2026, while defending the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine. His life was cut short by an enemy FPV drone strike during a combat mission in the Dnipropetrovsk region. He will forever be remembered by colleagues and loved ones as a young defender full of dreams.
Colleagues remember him as a kind, intelligent, and balanced worker who never feared difficulties and could find solutions to any problem.
Yevhen was an active person who enjoyed sports, but he valued the time spent with his family the most. He dreamed of having his own home and a large, happy family where peace would prevail. The war took away these dreams, but he became the best example of honor for his younger brother and a loving father to his little son.
Yevhen is survived by his wife, son, parents, and underage brother.
The team of the station service of the Korosten region of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" bows their heads in profound sorrow and deep respect for Yevhen. Our colleague, who was one of the first to go defend the country, heroically gave his life for our freedom. His dedication to the cause, humanity, and ultimate sacrifice will forever remain in the grateful memory of the railway family. Eternal glory to the Hero!
