Aliona VELYCHKO
Aliona was born in Kharkiv. In 2000, she earned a degree in thermal engineering from the Kharkiv Academy of Railway Transport. For over 18 years, she worked as a quality engineer in the non-destructive testing department of the Southern Railway's expert and technical center.
On that fateful day, Aliona was on a business trip to the Kremenchuk Car Depot to inspect the boiler equipment. She arrived by scheduled bus at the "Privozkalny" bus station, which was located directly next to the attacked shopping center.
Aliona Velychko tragically lost her life on June 27, 2022, at 4:00 PM in Kremenchuk as a result of a treacherous missile strike on the "Amstor" shopping mall.
Her colleagues remember Aliona as a creative, kind, and talented individual who stood out for her work ethic and honest, principled behavior. She never gave up, persistently overcoming obstacles and always maintaining an optimistic outlook on life. Her caring nature radiated warmth, providing moral support to those close to her.
Aliona is survived by her husband Valerii and her son Vladyslav, who also works as an engineer in the railway sector.
The team at the Kharkiv Regional Expert and Technical Center of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" mourns alongside Aliona's family. A highly qualified thermal engineer who dedicated her life to the railway, she became an innocent victim of a war crime—a missile strike while performing her official duties. Her vivacity and professional integrity will remain an unforgettable example. The bright memory of our colleague will forever stay in our hearts.
