Ihor NIKITENKO

Ihor Volodymyrovych was born on July 2, 1978. He dedicated his entire professional life to his native railway, giving it 27 years of tireless work.

He began his journey in railway transport in January 1999 as a trackman at the Verkhovtseva track distance of the regional branch "Dniprovsk Railway." Due to his diligence, responsibility, and professionalism, he progressed significantly in his career: he worked as a track foreman, a foreman (released) for current maintenance and repair of tracks and structures, a track master, and also as a 6th-grade operator of railway construction machines. Since July 2024, he held the responsible position of track master at the Verkhovtseva track distance.

Ihor Volodymyrovych's life was abruptly cut short on August 6, 2026, while on duty at the Erastivka station.

After the air raid alert was lifted, he and a colleague arrived at the site of a recent enemy drone strike (which had damaged a locomotive and railway infrastructure) to assess the destruction and begin the cleanup of the aftermath. At that moment, the enemy cynically launched a second strike on the station with a ballistic missile. Since there was no repeated alarm signal, the railway workers were caught off guard by the deadly danger.

Ihor Volodymyrovych will forever be remembered by his colleagues and loved ones as a dedicated professional, a reliable friend, and a kind-hearted person.
