Anton KOCHERHIN
Anton was born in the city of Kryvyi Rih. He graduated from a lyceum, obtaining the profession of an assistant locomotive driver and locksmith. He grew up in a family of railway workers (his father and older brother worked on locomotives) and, since September 2019, worked as an assistant driver at the Kryvyi Rih locomotive depot.
In the summer of 2020, Anton signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine instead of serving his mandatory military service, telling his father: "Dad, you will be proud of me; I will serve with honor!" He served as a sniper in the 92nd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Cossack Ataman Ivan Sirko. He participated in international exercises and defended the country in the hottest areas: Chuhuiv, Kupiansk, and then Luhansk region. He died in battle.
21-year-old Senior Soldier Anton Kocherhin was killed on October 29, 2022, near the village of Andriivka in the Luhansk region.
For his service, he was awarded the commemorative medal "Defender of the Fatherland," the badge "Pride of the Dovhyntsi District," and the medal "For Merits to the City" of the III degree.
Anton is survived by his father and older brother.
The team at the Kryvyi Rih locomotive depot of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" honors the memory of their young colleague. Our assistant driver, hailing from a dynasty of railway workers, consciously chose military service under contract. He served with honor, as he promised his father, defending key areas, and fell as a Hero. His bravery, recognized with municipal and state awards, is an example of true heroism for the younger generation of railway workers. Eternal Glory to the Hero!
