Arutyun MANVELYAN
On October 12, 2026, during a combat mission to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, defender of the homeland and railway worker Arutyun Samvelovich Manvelyan was killed. A member of the motorized infantry unit of military unit A4718, a participant in combat operations and a holder of several military awards, he gave his life for the freedom of his native land. The warrior was just 49 years old.
Arutyun was born on September 4, 1977, in Tbilisi (Georgia). In 1989, he moved to Ukraine with his family, where the town of Pomichna in Kirovohrad Oblast became his home. After graduating from Pomichna Secondary School I-III degrees No. 1, he obtained a degree in marketing from the Pervomaisk College.
In October 2022, Arutyun tied his fate to the steel highways, starting work as a locomotive engineer (stoker) of the 2nd category at the production unit "Locomotive Depot Pomichna" of the "Locomotive Company" branch of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia." He dedicated four years to ensuring the operational sustainability of his native enterprise.
Colleagues remember Arutyun as an exceptionally responsible, diligent, and caring employee:
“Arutyun approached his duties with great responsibility and always tried to learn from older colleagues to be worthy of the high title of railway worker,” recalls his foreman, Fedir Ponomaryov. “He was diligent, sincere, and earned well-deserved respect in the team.”
A true patriot of Ukraine, Arutyun Manvelyan was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine on February 17, 2023. Since March 2024, as a participant in combat operations, he faced the most hellish trials of war. For his courage, endurance, and injuries sustained in battle, he was awarded honorary distinctions from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine — the "For Injury" medal, the "Knight's Cross," and the "Defender of Ukraine" medal.
The fallen hero is survived by his mother, brother, and daughter.
The team at the Pomichna locomotive depot of the "Locomotive Company" branch and all of "Ukrzaliznytsia" express their deepest condolences to Arutyun Manvelyan's mother, brother, daughter, and all his loved ones with profound sorrow and pain in their hearts. The bright memory of his bravery, combat heroism, human sincerity, and dedication to Ukraine will forever remain in our hearts.
Eternal memory and honor to the Hero!
