Vasyl KUBSKYI
On October 11, 2026, during a combat mission near the village of Pishchane in the Chuhuiv district of Kharkiv region, a soldier of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, railway worker Vasyl, was killed. The border service inspector and senior radio telegraph operator of the communication group of the 1st Border Detachment of the State Border Guard Service fell in battle, demonstrating exceptional resilience and courage. The defender was just 35 years old.
Vasyl was born on January 3, 1991, in the village of Krychevichi in the Kovel district of Volyn. From a young age, he chose the path of a railway worker, obtaining the profession of a locksmith for the repair of rolling stock and assistant locomotive driver at the Zdolbuniv Professional Railway Transport College. In 2010, he began his career at the Kovel locomotive depot.
Over 16 years of dedication to the railway, Vasyl rose to the high 5th category of locksmith for inspection and repair of locomotives in the technical inspection shop of the Kovel locomotive depot, a branch of "Locomotive Company" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia." Colleagues remember him as a calm, balanced, and wise specialist beyond his years. Even older masters valued him for his discipline, determination, and impeccable attitude towards work.
In civilian life, Vasyl was a sincere and open man, whose main purpose in life was his family. Together with his wife, they raised two daughters—Yana and Yaroslava—who saw their father as their main protector and support.
In March 2022, Vasyl consciously took up arms to defend his homeland and the future of his children. He served in military unit 9937, ensuring reliable communication in the most challenging areas of the front. In brief calls from the front line, he always tried to reassure his mother, wife, and daughters, assuring them that everything would be alright.
The fallen warrior is survived by his mother, father, wife, and two daughters.
The team at the Kovel locomotive depot, a branch of "Locomotive Company" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia," shares this unimaginable grief and expresses sincere condolences to his parents, wife, daughters, comrades, and all who knew and valued Vasyl. The bright memory of his kind heart, responsibility, paternal love, and military valor will forever remain in our hearts.
Glory to the Hero!
