Artem Serhiyovych Semenenko, a senior lieutenant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and a devoted railway worker, gave his life for the freedom of our state on June 17, 2024. His earthly journey ended while carrying out a combat mission in fierce battles near the village of Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region. He was only 38 years old.

Artem was born on October 11, 1985, in Kharkiv. It was here, in a city that became a symbol of resilience, that he grew up, studied, and made plans for a future that he later went to defend with a weapon in hand.

Artem tied his fate to the railway industry back in 2003 when he enrolled in the Ukrainian State Academy of Railway Transport. For him, the railway was not just a job, but a calling:

Beginning his career in 2008 at the Kharkiv track distance, he dedicated over a decade and a half to the industry. Since 2020, he worked as a 3rd class track fitter at the Osnovyansk track distance ("Southern Railway").

Colleagues remember Artem as a sincere and open person. He was respected for his integrity, professionalism, and readiness to help his comrades at any moment.

On August 25, 2023, Artem Serhiyovych exchanged civilian clothes for military uniform. As a person with higher education and a strong sense of responsibility, he defended the country in an officer's rank, holding the position of senior lieutenant in his military unit.

He carried out extremely challenging combat missions in the Volnovakha direction. In the harsh conditions of the front, Artem demonstrated courage, endurance, and became a reliable support for his comrades.

After the battle on June 17, 2024, communication with him was lost. For a long time, Artem was considered missing in action. His family and colleagues believed in a miracle until official confirmation of the Hero's death was received.

Artem's death is an indescribable pain for his loved ones and the entire railway family. He was a loving son, husband, and father who dreamed of a peaceful sky for his son and the restoration of his native Kharkiv.

We express our deepest condolences to Artem's mother, father, wife, and son.

The team at the Osnovyansk track distance bows their heads in deep sorrow before the heroism of their colleague. Artem Semenenko will remain in our memory as an example of courage, dignity, and indomitable spirit.

Eternal memory and honor to the Hero! Glory to Ukraine!
