Igor Matsko

Локомотивне депо Ковель
29.09.1993 – 15.11.2025

Igor was born on September 23, 1993, in the city of Kovel, Volyn region. He obtained a degree as an electromechanical technician from the Lviv College of Transport Infrastructure, continuing the family legacy of his railway worker parents. In 2019, he began working as a 4th-grade repair mechanic for rolling stock at the Kovel locomotive depot, where he worked for six years.

Soldier Igor Matsko, a reconnaissance assistant grenade launcher, was killed on November 15, 2025, while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Varachyne in the Sumy district, demonstrating resilience and courage. He was 32 years old.

Colleagues remember Igor as calm, wise beyond his years, enthusiastic, disciplined, and a responsible worker. His sincerity and willingness to help made him special.

Igor expressed his patriotism throughout his conscious life:

In 2016, he signed a contract for military service.

From 2017 to 2019, he participated in the ATO/JFO, defending Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

In June 2025, Igor once again took up the defense of the country and joined the 71st Separate Jaeger Brigade, serving as a reconnaissance assistant grenade launcher in the special operations company.

In brief conversations from the front, he reassured his mother and beloved girlfriend, assuring them that he was fine.

The hero is survived by his mother, father, sister, and beloved girlfriend.

The team at the Kovel locomotive depot of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" bows their heads in profound sorrow and deep respect for Igor Matsko. Our colleague, a railway worker who was a veteran of the ATO/JFO and a brave special operations warrior, heroically died defending the borders in the Sumy region. His resilience, courage, and great sacrifice will forever serve as an example of selfless love for the Motherland. Eternal memory to the HERO!
