Ihor was born in the city of Zhmerinka, Vinnytsia region. He began his career on the railway in October 2008 at the Zhmerinka signaling and communication distance of the "South-Western Railway" as an electrician. From April 2020 until his death, he held the position of senior electromechanic in the maintenance crew for signaling, centralization, and blocking devices on the Matyikove – Zhmerinka-Podilskaya – Serbynivtsi section of the Zhmerinka signaling and communication distance of the regional branch of the "South-Western Railway." Ihor Vasylovych dedicated over sixteen years of his life to the railway, becoming a true example of devotion to his profession and love for his work. His diligence, high responsibility, and deep professional knowledge earned him sincere respect among his colleagues. In the team, he is remembered as a responsible person who knew how to support and encourage others. His professionalism, humanity, and life wisdom will remain an example for each of us.

In July 2022, Ihor Vasylovych stood guard over the integrity of his homeland and was mobilized for service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This decision was a manifestation of his true patriotism, courage, and responsibility towards his country. He performed his military duty with dignity, remaining as dedicated and honest as he was in his everyday life and work.

As a serviceman, he held the rank of sergeant. For his fellow soldiers, he was a mentor who shared his experience, supported them, and taught them not to lose their humanity even in the difficult moments of war. Ihor's comrades remember his determination and zest for life and victory.

Ihor was killed on June 1, 2025, while performing military service in the area of the village of Ridkodub in the Kramatorsk district of Donetsk region.

We express our sincere condolences to the family, relatives, and friends of Matsykov Ihor Vasylovych. We share your loss and pain, bowing our heads in honor of the courage and self-sacrifice of our colleague and defender. Ihor Vasylovych is survived by his parents and sister.
