Ivan Ostashchuk
Ivan lived in the village of Rudka in Bukovina. He graduated from the Chernivtsi Transport College. He worked as a track master in the Kolomyia railway division. Colleagues remember him as a responsible specialist, demanding of himself and his subordinates, who easily handled tasks requiring organizational skills.
Ivan was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the end of September 2022. The railway worker became a rifleman in the platoon of a motorized infantry battalion. In the military, he earned respect for his composure, politeness, fairness, and, at the same time, modesty. He was also a model family man.
The 32-year-old warrior Ivan Ostashchuk was killed on October 29, 2022, while performing a combat mission near the settlement of Berestove in the Donetsk region as a result of a massive enemy shelling.
The fallen hero was posthumously awarded the Order of "For Courage" of the III degree.
Ivan is survived by his wife, two sons, parents, a brother, and a sister.
The team of the Kolomyia railway division of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" honors their colleague with great respect and sorrow. His responsibility, courage recognized by the Order, and the tragic loss for his family with two sons—this is our eternal duty to remember the price of freedom. Eternal Glory to the Hero!
