Kostiantyn BABICH
Konstantin Babich was born on July 6, 1982, at Kropyvnytskyi railway station in the Kirovohrad region. In 2006, he graduated from the Kyiv Electromechanical Technical School of Railway Transport, obtaining a specialization in "maintenance of rolling stock and special railway equipment."
In 2002, he joined the railway, starting as a deputy assistant driver of an electric locomotive at the Pomichna locomotive depot of the Odesa Railway. He later became a 2nd class electric locomotive driver, and since February 2020, he served as a 1st class electric locomotive driver at the Pomichna locomotive depot of the Odesa Railway regional branch.
At the onset of the large-scale military aggression by the Russian Federation, Konstantin was among the first to stand up for Ukraine.
42-year-old Konstantin Babich was killed on September 13, 2024, while performing a combat mission in the Zaporizhzhia direction. He sustained injuries as a result of enemy shelling.
Colleagues remembered Konstantin as a responsible, highly qualified specialist, diligent, and demanding of himself and others. He was well aware of the responsibility for the safety of train operations, and the equipment entrusted to him was maintained in excellent condition.
Konstantin continuously improved his professional skills, regularly attending technical training sessions, which earned him the 1st class qualification as an electric locomotive driver. He sincerely shared his acquired knowledge with colleagues and successfully applied his skills in practice. He was held in high regard by the depot team.
Konstantin is survived by his wife, Olena, and sons, Vitalii and Nazarii.
The team at the Pomichna locomotive depot is deeply saddened and shocked by the loss of their colleague, who bravely defended our country. We express our heartfelt condolences to Konstantin Babich's wife and sons. Eternal memory and honor to the Hero!
