Maksym Khmara
Maksym was born in the city of Znamianka, Kirovohrad region, where he graduated from vocational school No. 12. He worked on the railway as a 4th category electric gas welder at the production unit "Znamiansky Quarry" of the "Center for Industrial Management" branch.
In 2021, Maksym signed a military contract to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, serving as a senior sailor in the grenade launcher division of the marine brigade. Colleagues noted that he was decisive, proactive, persistent, honorable, and had great plans for the future. The defender's father, Andriy Tymofiyovych, shared that Maksym was very kind to animals and often said, "My little one," which is where his call sign came from.
30-year-old senior sailor Maksym Khmara, with the call sign "Manyunya," was killed on May 19, 2022, from a penetrating shrapnel wound near Kherson.
Posthumously, Maksym was awarded the Order of "For Courage" of the III degree. His gravestone bears the lines written by his father: "He did not falter or betray. He moved forward without stopping: For freedom, for life, for a free Ukraine. He bowed his head, for he could do no other. For the warrior of Good, all of Ukraine mourns."
The team at Znamiansky Quarry of the "Center for Industrial Management" branch of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" honors the memory of their colleague. His kindness to living beings and courage on the battlefield, recognized with an Order, will remain a testament to his dedication to the Motherland. Glory to the Hero!
