Mykyta ZHEREBTSOV
Mykyta was born in Dnipro, growing up in a railway family. He actively practiced judo and studied at the Dnipro Military Lyceum with enhanced military-physical training, followed by the Dnipro Vocational Railway Lyceum. For about a year, he worked as an assistant driver of an electric locomotive at the Lower Dnipro Depot.
In 2021, Mykyta was drafted for mandatory service in the National Guard of Ukraine, where he signed a contract for further service. On February 24, 2022, he engaged in his first battle with the enemy at a checkpoint near the village of Blahodatne in Donetsk region. At the end of July, his unit was redeployed to the Kharkiv direction, where he was killed.
21-year-old Mykyta Zherebtsov died on August 30, 2022, near the village of Dementiivka in the Kharkiv region. That morning, he wrote to his mother that he was doing well.
The railway hero was buried with military honors at the Glory Alley of the Krasnopil Cemetery in Dnipro.
He is survived by his parents and his 12-year-old brother, Sashko.
The team at the Lower Dnipro Depot of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" remembers their young colleague with deep sorrow. His short but heroic life and dedication to Ukraine represent a profound loss and an eternal example of courage for all railway youth!
